When should kids start going to the dentist?
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), your child’s first dental visit should happen within six months of their first tooth appearing and no later than their first birthday.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
Your child’s first dental visit is crucial for establishing lifelong oral health habits. During the visit, we’ll check for early signs of dental problems and discuss how to care for your child’s teeth. Your child will meet our friendly team and have a fun experience in the dentist’s chair. Dr. Feller will examine their teeth for any signs of decay or potential issues, such as gaps or alignment problems. We’ll also emphasize the importance of daily oral hygiene, including brushing twice a day, flossing, avoiding sugary foods or brushing soon after consuming them.

How often should kids go to the dentist?
Children should visit the dentist every six months for routine exams and cleanings after their first initial visit. Regular visits help monitor their dental development, prevent cavities and address any issues early on. Consistent dental care promotes healthy oral habits and long-term dental health.

Can a loose baby tooth reattach itself?
A loose baby tooth can’t reattach itself because it’s a natural part of the tooth-shedding process. Baby teeth typically become loose to make way for the permanent teeth growing underneath. If a baby tooth is prematurely loose due to trauma, it’s best to consult a pediatric dentist to ensure there are no underlying issues and to receive appropriate care.
